Cumbria Chamber of Commerce recently published the Cumbria Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) 2026-2029. Cumbria’s 2026 LSIP is a genuine partnership initiative working together with employers, further and higher education providers, local authorities, the Combined Authority, and Jobcentre Plus and Work & Health partners. More than a document, it is a real commitment to working together on an ongoing basis to address Cumbria’s key skills challenges and support growth, productivity and an inclusive economy with opportunities for all. Just to remind you that 8% of the responses to the survey and 25% of the one to one interviews were with land based industries, so there was good representation of the skills needs of our sector. The LSIP is a living document so actions will continue to develop over its life, including identification of additional actions as further research continues. Everyone is encouraged to stay or get engaged, as it is through active involvement that Cumbria’s 2026 LSIP will succeed in making the most impact.
