Part of a mission to create a resilient farming system in the North
A collaboration of Northern-based food and farm workers have announced a three year programme of work that will support a transition to nature-friendly farming in the North - including the establishment of three Farm Learning Hubs.
The search has been on for three collaborative, innovation-led farm hosts eager to progress their farm’s transition to nature-friendly farming practices and also willing to develop their farms as hubs for agroecological learning for the wider community of food and farm workers in the North. Three thematically and geographically diverse farms have been selected.

The hubs are intended to explore best practices in regeneration, landscape restoration and food production, serving as active centres for education, peer-to-peer training, and market building for agricultural products. The hub farmers will be supported by the network to host events that will bring together diverse members of the Northern food and farming community in a collective effort to speed up the transition to a resilient food and farming system.
Over the next weeks they will be looking for you to get involved and sign up to project co-design days and strategy theme meetings - places to share challenges, successes and bring proposals and ideas.
Mark and Jenny are keen to demonstrate how thriving cattle and land, working with nature is also good for business. They will be collaborating on the development of on-farm training for regenerative livestock food systems with the aim of cultivating resilience and nourishing communities. Join their co-design day on 3 December 2026 by signing up here.
Alex and Hannah will focus on on-farm infrastructure and local supply networks for seed and grain, with a specific interest in the infrastructure needed to make more diverse and agroecological farming systems commercially viable. Join their co-design day on 23 November 2026 by signing up here.

The team at Kindling Farm aim to progress the NFF theme of a thriving land-based workforce through better support and training by creating practical, solution-focused half day workshops that will enable Northern growers and farmers to access the tools, contacts and relationships to be better prepared for future challenges. Sessions may cover resilience planning, crops for a changing climate, irrigation and water management, food safety for farmers, fire safety and financial resilience. Join their co-design day on 22 January 2027 by signing up here.
