Fantastic day on site with Upper Duddon Landscape Recovery, marking the first anniversary of the 20 year project.
We learnt all about hairy wood ants and their symbiotic relationship with cow-wheat and the benefits of both to the temperate rain forest.
We also witnessed river restoration activities aimed at increasing biodiversity, improving soil fertility and managing flooding.
The project already employs 14 people and offers opportunities to volunteer and learn new skills like dry stone walling.
