This hybrid course introduces how ecological principles can be integrated into river restoration strategies, with a particular focus on freshwater macroinvertebrates. These organisms are a key component of river ecosystems and play a critical role in maintaining ecological balance. Participants will explore how restoration practices can recreate or enhance habitats that support diverse macroinvertebrate populations. The course includes a variety of interactive presentations and activities, such as analyzing habitat-driven ecological changes in a real-world restoration project using 360° imagery, video footage, and specialized ecological datasets.
We have designed this course as a hybrid learning experience. Course materials will be found on the online learning platform, allowing participants to work through them at their own pace over a 4-week period. Afterward, we will host an online discussion session where all attendees can join and engage in a conversation about the material.
