Overview

Rookhow - Practical Volunteers (DIY & outdoor work to maintain our historic building and 12 acres woodland) - Rusland, Ulverston. Join our friendly open-minded team of volunteers every Friday at Rookhow, a Quaker charity, near Grizedale. Gardening, woodland work, DIY. Help maintain our grounds and buildings for guests, including vulnerable groups. Homemade cakes provided. Peaceful, simple, community feel. Outdoor tasks may include splitting logs for firewood, chopping kindling, wheelbarrowing logs to the log store, cleaning out the yurt in the woods, weeding the car park, planting hedges, path restoration, clearing drains and gutters, mowing the grass, hedge strimming. Indoor tasks may include polishing woodwork, cleaning windows, repairing bunkbeds, painting, fixing things, putting up shelves, deep cleaning, sorting books and games in the Bunkbarn, making tea and coffee for the other volunteers.
