Overview

Carpentry and joinery can be an exciting and rewarding career with a wide range of tasks and new challenges every day. This course is for those who would like to develop their carpentry skills for onsite construction. You will learn a range of underpinning carpentry skills gaining competence as well as exploring first and second fix carpentry. Units studied on this course include principles of building construction, health and safety in construction, carrying out first fix flooring, roofing, frames, partition and stairs. You will also learn about second fix operations, carpentry maintenance and setting up/operating a circular saw.

Each module has both practical and theory elements which will test your knowledge and skills which will make you ready for industry.

  • You will have the opportunity to visit and work with trades in industry as part of your work experience.
