A fun 24 hours of community citizen-science ,appreciating and recording biodiversity and wildlife on a working Cumbrian Farm

Rebecca Slack manger of Cumbria Biodiversity Data Centre will explain the value of recording , how best to record , where to submit the records and how records will be used in the future . With the use of apps like I naturalist and I record recording has embraced technology . A I naturalist project will be created for the park house Bioblitz so live feeds can be created through out the 24 hours.

Indoor venue will hold displays , have an area set aside for micro scopes , monitors to view camera trap footage . There will be specialist talks . Exhibit s and opportunities to identify items found in the field . Specialist recorders from Cumbria Invertebrate s , Cumbria Lichens and Bryophytes, Cumbria Amphibians and Reptiles will have displays and lead walks . We have ecologists , moth trappers , entomologists, mammal experts , botanists and tree specialists all willing to share their passion and knowledge.
Evening Bat walks: 20:30
Members of the Cumbria Bat group will do a talk on bats . Then as the sun setts groups will head out to monitor the bat activity . Using various survey techniques and bat sound frequency detector's it should be possible to identify the different bat species . Alongside the farm the Isel Old Church will be an interesting night time survey area.
