Habitat Management for Temperate Rainforest
Species

Join us for a visit to Thornythwaite Farm and a 'walk and talk' event!

The day will focus on what conditions are needed for rainforest indicator species to thrive and what specific habitat conditions are needed to maintain the rich biodiversity of lichens and bryophytes. The wood pasture at Thornythwaite is part of our rainforest landscape, and is a nationally important SSSI and NNR.

We Will be looking into-

• What is wood pasture and why is it important for rainforest species.
• An overview of which trees would provide the best for rare species
• How the management of the habitat effects rainforest indicator species.
• How habits, including woodpasture, can be maintained or improved to ensure survival of rare species
• How land managers can protect ancient trees and their important habitat
• How existing trees can be managed to provide better habitats and how

Accessibility-
This is a working farm, so any dogs must be kept on short leads.
We will be off the footpath at times walking over rough ground to explore the site
