Creating New Hedgerows Guided Walk

Creating New Hedgerows Guided
Walk

Agriculture + Horticulture / Machinery + Technology
Date 21/01/25

Join Hector Meanwell (from Ernest Cook Trust) and Jack Ellerby (Friends of the Lake District) on a walk about to see the good practice of hedgerow planting and regeneration at Low Beckside Farm. Hector and Jack will talk through the steps to plant new mixed, native species hedgerows and their aftercare. The session will look at species mixes, planting approaches, maintenance and future management.

We’ll look at recently planted hedgerows, restored old hedges, do some planting and then watch the hedge layers at work at our hedge laying training which is taking place on the same day.

This event is part of our 'Hedges and Edges' project to help encourage best practice and learning about both the creation of new hedgerows and the management of existing hedgerows amongst farmers, landowners, land based contractors and the wider community.
