Overview

Our “Woodland Pioneers – An Introduction to Coppicing” course introduces you to the apprenticeship scheme and/or to coppicing and greenwood crafts. This year our course will run from 1 – 5 September 2025 at Silverhelme Scout Camp, Silverdale, Lancashire. For Newcomers: This week-long course consists of four 1-day workshops, Mon-Thurs: Treen with Twiggy, Mini Gate Hurdles with Owen Jones, Charcoal with The Coppice Co-op, Greenwood Stools with Helen Clarke. For Returners… If you’ve been before then you can come again to attend one of our advanced courses. This year you can choose from either: Rush Weaving and Wood Carving workshops with Jane Bradley and Viv Walker, OR Knife Forging and Leather Sheath Making with Matt Whitaker and Tony Morgan.

  • For newcomers: For the course fee we have a sliding scale so you can pay what you can afford between £360-£560.
  • For returners: £395-£595 – this is our sliding scale, so you can pay what you can afford.
  • Any profit we make will go towards supporting our apprentices.
