

This qualification provides candidates with the necessary skills and knowledge to provide basic treatment to one or more species of animal. It covers health and safety, legislation relating to the use of Veterinary Medicines, signs of health and ill health in various species, safe and correct procedures for administering Veterinary Medicines and the procedures for monitoring the animal’s response and the actions to take in the case of an emergency.
When working with chemicals such as pesticides, veterinary medicines and sheep dip it is important to know that they may contain substances that are potentially harmful to human health. The use of these products will be subject to COSHH Regulations.
