Overview

If you’re passionate about caring for animals and ready to turn that passion into a professional career, this qualification offers the ideal next step. Designed specifically for students employed in an RCVS-approved veterinary training practice, it develops the essential practical skills, clinical knowledge and professional behaviours needed to practise safely and effectively in this rewarding field. You’ll gain hands-on experience caring for a variety of companion animals, including cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs, while learning how to take a holistic approach to health and welfare. The programme focuses on building confidence, competence and a deep understanding of the professional responsibilities expected of a qualified veterinary nurse. Assessment combines practical experience in the workplace, written assignments, online examinations and a final Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE), ensuring you meet the standards set by the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS). Successful completion enables you to register as a veterinary nurse and start making a real difference to animal wellbeing and the people who care for them.
