To cut or not to cut? That IS the question! Early autumn is the time of year that hedges are booked in for their annual trim, but how soon should you cut? Hedgerows require management to stay in shape, and good management practices keep hedgerows healthy and increase their longevity. But what is 'good practice' and how can we apply it ourselves? Friends of the Lake District's nature recovery officer, Naomi Walker, invited three hedgerow experts along to a webinar to discuss these questions: Nigel Adams, full-time hedge layer and consultant with over 45 years of experience in countryside management, Megan Gimber, key habitats officer for People's Trust for Endangered Species and James Robinson, fifth-generation organic dairy farmer and skilled hedge layer. The webinar is aimed at farmers, landowners, and hedge contractors or people who work for a conservation or land-management organisation.
