The Nature Rich Miterdale Project is offering 4 fully funded places on the City & Guilds Level 2 Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Small Tree Felling qualification. This is a great first step into a career working outdoors in forestry and woodland management. They’re looking for enthusiastic people from West Cumbria who enjoy working outdoors and want to develop practical forestry skills. No previous experience is needed and the opportunity may suit school or college leavers, people looking for a career change, or anyone interested in forestry, arboriculture or conservation. Successful applicants will complete five volunteer conservation days in the Miterdale Valley before attending the chainsaw course. During these days, you’ll help remove invasive non-native trees and learn basic woodland management skills. For more information get in touch with Jack – j.hatton@leeds.ac.uk.
