Brushcutters/trimmers are popular tools across the agriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance industries. They save time and work efficiently in tricky terrains and situations. But they also have the potential to be one of the most dangerous machines in common use. Our course will help novice users recognise and reduce those dangers. You'll also learn how to optimise performance and carry out routine maintenance. This two-day novice training course is for anyone employed in the agriculture, horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance industries who currently operates, or will be required to operate a brushcutter/trimmer.
This is an integrated training and assessment course. You'll learn to use the brushcutter/trimmer safely and with confidence. Understanding all the relevant regulations and safety requirements is key. You'll be taught the need for the correct protective clothing and how best to maintain a safe working environment. A certificate of competence will be awarded once you complete the course.

Starts September 2026. The timetable will potentially be 5 days per week incorporating the industry placement. The course incorporates a mandatory industry placement that will require a minimum of 45 days/315 hours of work.
On this T Level course you will get to work with a range of small and large animals both within the LMC collection and during off-site visits to farms, zoos and other animal related organisations. You will gain a range of practical skills including handling and restraint, preventative care, diet…
